just noticed,1:38 u can see the ligature moving, the screw-y bits are turning. it's odd. not criticising his playing- he's amazing

Cheek puffing and his ligature are elements to his personal sound. And how can you tell if a ligature is too loose? I've never heard of that before.

Puffing the cheeks is not that bad. Good players do that for altissimo notes to add more space for bigger sound.

We all play in our own way. If its not the LPO it doesn't have to be correct, it just has to be right. If Mr Sanborn wants to set his reed that way, well thats fine by me. I will continue to take great pleasure listening to him, as I will in the UK this month (November 08)on his tour.

What's a ligature? I never heard of that term since I've been learning about music! Is that a term only given to sax players? If you know of a website on this term please reply back?!
