Grateful Dead - The Supreme Audio - Bertha -7/8/78-Red Rocks
BackWe have all heard it a thousand times, and own this show, and hear it on the archives, but i figured, why not- its one of the most smoking Berthas on record. Based on performance of the band, and the pure, balanced sound recording, it can be argued that this is one of the greatest shows put down on tape. All instruments and vocals are recorded as if it were on gold reels. I personally burned up 3 copies of this 1st set on the old Maxells. Played em to death. There may be a 'better' Bertha out there- some would say from 1973 or from 1977 or even later. But thats not why this is posted. It can be argued to death. But there is no point to it. It is simply a great listen. Even with some of its luster taken away by the transfer to YouTube,this Bertha is unparallelled due to the stellar sound and Jerry's purring, and then ROARING. Wish video was around for this show. Many recall a glorious day in that great ampitheater nestled behind that li'l mountain range with a visible Denver in the background.
